Team Formation at the Instructional Baseball & Softball Levels (5-8 year old players)
When teams are formed, we try to create teams by neighborhoods as best as possible. We CANNOT guarantee every child will be placed on their neighborhood team. When registering your child, it is recommended you choose your neighborhood school (Blackwell, Carson, McAuliffe, Mead or Smith) if you want to increase the odds your child is placed on a team with other children in your neighborhood.
Mutual Buddy Requests at the Instructional Baseball & Softball Levels (5-8 year old players)
During the registration process, you may request a “Mutual Buddy” for your player to be assigned on a team with. Please coordinate with the other family, as we can only guarantee “Mutual Buddy” requests. A mutual buddy request example is: John Smith request Matthew Jones AND Matthew Jones requests John Smith. Both players MUST request each other as buddies for the request to be granted.
Buddy requests for specific coaches will not be considered.
We also will NOT grant “Linked Buddy Requests”: John Smith requests Matthew Jones AND Matthew Jones requests Tim Thomas AND Tim Thomas requests John Smith.
Team Formation at the Competitive Baseball & Softball Levels (9-16 year old players)
Teams at the competitive levels and above are formed via a draft process, not the mutual buddy request system that is used for the instructional levels. Part of that draft process is the evaluation of players skills. The evaluations enable us to place players at a level where they will have the most chance of success, have fun, and also help us to form more evenly balanced teams. All registered players will be drafted to a team; there are no cuts. Baseball Skills Evaluations and Softball Skills Evaluations will take place in late January or early February.
